The popular annual event, which attracts both local residents of the Bulkley Valley and visitors from across the Northwest just wrapped up its 100th anniversary.
The four days of the Exhibition a period which should have made for a good opportunity for those seeking the federal seat to introduce themselves and their political themes, while remaining cautious about making the festivities too political
Three of the six candidates currently in the race to represent the Northwest and Haida Gwaii on Parliament Hill highlighted their weekend through their social media feeds, with NDP candidate Taylor Bachrach, Conservative contender Claire Rattée and CHP hopeful Rod Taylor all staking out some space in Smithers to share their messages with fair goers over the weekend.
Curiously the remaining challengers for the Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding have kept a fairly low profile form the weekends prime opportunity to get their campaign themes out to the public.
Their social media options offered few notes made of the Bulkley Valley Exhibition, or even an advisory as to whether they took part in the weekend's activities.
