Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue gain more community funding towards command centre planning

The roll out of community grant funding from the Province of British Columbia continues, with the Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue Group set to receive $121,000 towards their Mobile Command Centre, a long sought after addition to their resources on the North Coast. Also included in the funding will be equipment and supplies for first aid, tracking and initial response teams.

The money for the capital projects comes from the Province's Gaming Grants Fund, with the government set to deliver Five million dollars in funds for projects across BC.

We are excited to see these investments take shape as they will have a profoundly beneficial effect on people and communities throughout British Columbia.” -- Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

Only one other group in the Northwest received funding from this most recent distribution with 49, set to be forwarded to Dze L K''ant Friendship Centre Society in Smithers for the building's revitalization, including energy-efficient building upgrades. Among the plans for that facility will be a mural to honour the memory of Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
