A new supply of toques for the winter has been delivered by Prince Rupert Lions to the Prince Rupert Seafarers Mission |
While Prince Rupert appears to be on the cusp of escape from the clutches of the latest deep freeze of the last few weeks, members of the Prince Rupert Lions Club have been doing their part to make sure that some of the visiting mariners that arrive in port have some proper head gear to take on the cold temperatures.
The Prince Rupert Service Club has once again taken to its toque campaign for visiting merchant sailors, providing a glimpse at their work through their Facebook page earlier this month.
The Prince Rupert Seafarers Mission is the distribution point for the toques |
A large number of those who visit the city on Port Calls come from Southeast Asian nations where the temperatures are significantly warmer than what Prince Rupert may feature from January through March, so the gesture of a nice warm toque no doubt is well received by the visitors.
You can learn more about their toque program from the Prince Rupert Lions facebook page, while you can explore the services offered by the Seafarer's Mission and find out what you can do to help them out in their work from their Facebook page.
