Mayor Lee Brain and City Manager Robert Long offered up a thumbnail guide as to what comes next following last month's Rupert 2030 Vision presentation at the Lester Centre.
Speaking for a few minutes at Monday's City Council Session, the City Manager observed how a community engagement survey set to take place through late January and February will lead to an all year process that carries forward in to the summer as the City looks to act on the future plans that the were revealed in mid December.
The more heavy public engagement portion of that engagement will come in the late spring towards summer, with Mr. Long hoping to have a similar enthusiastic turn out as was found in December.
"As a result of the vision that was completed at the end of last year, the next step for us as a City is to update our OCP to reflect the things that were determined in the vision, but to actually to ground proof a lot of those concepts within the community itself." -- City Manager Robert Long on the plans to move forward on the Rupert 2030 vision plan
The Mayor followed up the City Manager's notes by observing that the Official Community plan is a legal requirement of the City, with the last one took place in 2007 and how the consultation process ahead will help to put the City's 2030 Vision into law and help be apart of the build out the vision.
He also observed that the next step will be the creation of the Vision Stewardship council, the collection of partners that will be implementing some of the features revealed in December.

The mayor noted that the Vision Stewardship Council process should be getting underway in February and March.
Mr. Brain also observed how the work of the Vision Stewardship Council as the beginning of a decade of development which will be very exciting.
For their part on the night, the Council members portrayed the role of a silent audience.
With none of the members in attendance asking quesitons, offering commentary, or seeking clarification for the public, as to what role the elected city council may have in this new era of co-governance.
Nor did those elected by the public make note of what kind of oversight that they may provide for what seems to be a shift for urban planning for the community
