Complete Streets looks to lend a hand to Off Road cycling plans on North Coast

There's been much talk of late about rejuvenating some local trails for biking use around the city,  as well as to create a Pump Track for the use of local cycling enthusiasts, the latter a topic we explored back in January.

Last week the theme of cycling gained some additional exposure through a CBC Daybreak interview, with Matthew Allen chatting with a pair of organizers from the NCMBA to hear more of their plans.

Among those showing an interest in helping to provide for a little forward momentum for those plans is the local group, Complete Streets for Prince Rupert,  the local organization one which has been advocating for a full range of transportation options for the community for a few years now.

The Complete Streets group has fully embraced the call to add to the cycling infrastructure for the North Coast and recently provided some background on how Terrace has provided for  trail development in recent years.

Chris Lightfoot from Complete Streets for Prince Rupert and Trevor Sowers from the North Coast Mountain Biking Association spoke with Tyler Wilkes and Aleksa Havalaar of the Terrace Off Road Cycling Association to learn what they got right and what challenges were there to conquer.

The details help to steer some of the conversation on what Prince Rupert needs to do and hopes to achieve as the local North Coast Mountain Bike plans come together.
