Federal parties make preparations as summer election possibilities percolate

Will residents of Skeena-Bulkley Valley head to the polling
stations this summer? No election call yet, but the
political parties of the Northwest are making some plans 
just in case!

There is no official Federal election campaign on the go at the moment, but the drum sure seem to be pounding just a little bit louder that Canadians may be heading off to an Elections Canada location either later this summer or sometime into September.

In the Northwest, the political parties are starting to firm up their plans for a potential election, with three of the four Federal parties having at least started the process of nominations for any upcoming campaign.

Though there's scant mention of the campaigns to come to be found from their social media message making of late. Some of those portals are in need of a little summer cleaning, lacking in any information for a few years, while others are somewhat more current to themes of local federal politics.

Starting with the incumbent, the NDP long ago confirmed that Taylor Bachrach will once again seek to represent the region, the rookie MP having just wrapped up his first few years of service with the end of the Parliamentary session in June.

Skeena-Bulkley Valley Conservative Association

The Conservatives, have yet to announce a candidate, but there are at least two potential options for the party in the Northwest, with Claire Rattee the candidate from Kitimat who ran in 2019 indicating interest in June towards seeking the nomination.

As well, Theresa Tait-Day a well known Wet'suweten advocate is seeking the Conservative nomination, there has been no indication yet as to when the party will be looking to firm up their plans for any potential election.

Skeena Bulkley Valley Green Party

The Green Party while in a bit of disarray lately on the Federal scene, is a little more sure footed in the Northwest with Haida Gwaii resident Adeana Young selected to contest the riding when an election is called.

Skeena-Bulkley Valley Federal Electoral District Association

The Liberals have yet to offer any indication as to what plans they may have towards a nomination process for the Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding.

People's Party of Canada

Maxime Bernier's  People's Party of Canada has yet to announce its nomination plans, nor have they developed a Northwest page for local themes.

Christian Heritage Party

Rod Taylor will once again run for the Christian Heritage Party in the riding, with many of his themes relayed through the National page.
