Overnight fire at Pinnacle Renewable Energy Terminal quickly contained

the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue department following an early 
morning fire atop the structure

Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue and Pinnacle Renewable Energy Terminal staff worked quickly overnight to knock down a fire which briefly saw flames and smoke easily viewed from atop the terminal infrastructure early Tuesday morning.

In a video from a nearby resident available on social media and shared widely this morning, the flames are seen above the elevator shaft area of the structure in the middle of the four silos along the Prince Rupert waterfront, the fire taking place sometime around 1AM and within sight of some of the residences on the west side of the city.

Between the work of the staff at the pellet terminal and arriving firefighters from the PRFD the situation quickly appears to have been taken in hand with no significant visible damage seen to the outside upon the daylight.

There was a vessel at the terminal at the time, the Sakizaya Leader and it remains tied up alongside as of this morning.

To this point there have been no updates on the fire outlined from the PRFD or towards the status of terminal operations from Pinnacle Renewable Energy.
