VOPAK prepares for larger presence in community with preparation of downtown storefront office

There's a new office about to set up in the downtown core in Prince Rupert, a sign perhaps that there is some forward momentum ahead for another industrial project for the Prince Rupert waterfront.

VOPAK the Dutch international terminal provider, which has proposed a bulk fuels terminal for Ridley Island is setting up shop in the Five Hundred Block of Third Avenue, with work on the interior of the new community office currently underway.

An update on the VOPAK website advises that they plan to open the office soon.

In their overview of their terminal project, VOPAK notes of the resources that would be shipped out of their Pacific Coast terminal.

The Vopak Pacific Canada Project is expected to store Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Clean Petroleum Products (CPP) (i.e. diesel and/or gasoline) and methanol. 

All products will be transported from BC and Alberta to the Project via the existing Canadian National Railway line. 

Customers of Vopak will be responsible for bringing the product to site and for shipping the product from the jetty to markets around the world.

There haven't been many updated on the progress of the proposed terminal of late, the international company having just seen their Environmental Assessment Comment period come to an end at the end of August.

VOPAK is a member of the Gateway Council, a collection of fourteen local stakeholders in Transportation and shipping on the North Coast, the Council released its 2021 Economic Impact Study earlier this week.
