Rampage looking for fourth win in a row tonight

The Prince Rupert Rampage have enjoyed a most rewarding run since November 18th and tonight they are back on the ice at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.

The Rampage will be looking to add to their goal totals and a pick up a fourth win in a row, with the Kitimat Ice Demons arriving in town for tonight's CIHL West matchup.

Tonight's game offers up another near "must win" situation for the Rampage, as they look to keep pace in the division, a situation made a little more challenging with the success of the Terrace River Kings last weekend.

Once the standings were sorted out after last week's work, the Rampage despite their winning efforts,  still found themselves chasing the River Kings and Houston Luckies.  The two teams that would appear to be their main competition for playoff placement this season.

A good portion of the recent success for the Rampage comes from the consistency of the offence across the lineup, with a good portion of the scoring  divided up rather evenly among the remainder of the nightly line up sheets.

To keep their streak alive, the Rampage will most likely be turning to their top performers of the year so far. Craig Munro, Jordan Weir, Kory Movald and Brock Ward have accounted for 36 of the 88 Rampage points thus far on the season, Ward's totals coming in recent bursts and after only four games in the lineup.

The one Achilles heel for Prince Rupert however is goals against, a stat where the Rampage have given up the second largest margin of goals in the CIHL West. Defensive lapses that proved more costly in the early going, than they have over the last month of play.

Still without the stellar work of Keano Wilson through the year, the Rampage might have been faced with even a larger challenge than what is ahead, as they make a run for post season play in the CIHL.

Kitimat arrives in town leading the CIHL West with 15 points, third overall in the league. And they most likely will be in a foul mood as they take to the ice.

Last week the Ice Demons suffered a 10-2 defeat at the hands of the Quesnel Kangaroos, a result that they most likely will be looking to make amends for.

Kitimat also brings a league leading 320 penalty minutes to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre tonight.

An indication that a physical game may be in store for those that put the wrap on their Winterfest celebrations with some Rampage hockey tonight.

For those looking to get out of the cold North Coast wind this evening, Puck drop is at 8 PM.
