Wind storm knocks power out overnight
For many Prince Rupert residents, waking up Saturday morning was greeted by the flashing numbers of your alarm clock, with close to two and half hours of time having gone lost, owing to an overnight power failure in areas of the city.
The power went out at 1:45 on Saturday morning, the gusty winds of the overnight period taking its toll on the BC Hydro distribution system in a portion of the city.
2,290 power users in the city were without power until 4:09 AM as BC Hydro worked to restore their service to a region that stretched East and West of Highway 16, South of Seal Cove Rd and North of 2nd Avenue.
The power outage was limited to that area of the city, no power outage issues were reported by Port Edward or other sections of the region.
