End of January brings latest store closure for downtown Prince Rupert

Another rough day for the Prince Rupert Business Community
with the going out of Business signs going up at Oceanside Sports

January is shaping up to be a month of disappointment for the city's business community, with a second local business preparing to close their doors this month, after operating in the community for a number of years.

Oceanside Sports, which has been providing sporting goods and collectible items to the community for over eight and half years has posted the Store Closing signs up on their Third Avenue West storefront.

The store opened to the community in August of 2009 and served to fill the void that came from the closures of Farwest Sports and Athlete's World in the community over the last few years.

There's no indication at the moment as to when the final day of Business will be for Oceanside Sports.

The Going out of Business signs come a week or so after Acklands-Grainger the industrial supply shop on George Hills Way indicated that it will be closing its doors after a number of decades in the community.

The winding down process for that long time fixture in the community is expected to come before the end of March.

  1. People don’t support local business. They buy at wallyworld or shop online. Small businesses can’t survive if the communities don’t support them.
