Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Society sets schedule for water refills prior to Christmas

As residents of Prince Rupert prepare to enter this Christmas/New Years period under a continued Water Advisory, the Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Society has provided for some relief for its members, offering another session of water refills this week.

There are two remaining opportunities for Nisga'a members to refill their water Containers prior to the Christmas period:

Tuesday, December 22 from Noon to 5PM
Tuesday, December 29 from Noon to 5PM

Those members making use of the service are reminded that there is a two 18L water container maximum per re-fill.

Access to the water distribution program is from Nisga'a Hall basement alley access, there are the usual social distancing, mask requirements in place.

Residents of the City of Prince Rupert have been under the Water Quality Advisory since October 31st, reinforcing the reminder earlier this month.

The issue affecting the city's water is that of turibidty in the Shawatlans Lake Water supply.

With the exception of a brief period in October, Prince Rupert has been under a Water Quality Advisory since August.
