Storm system to come ashore overnight and into Tuesday
The North Coast and Haida Gwaii will have the weather spotlight for the next few days as Environment Canada issues a Special Weather Statement for the region advising of a Pacific storm system set to arrive.
The Weather Statement issued at 4 AM today advises that Southeast winds of 60 to 80 kilometres per hour will develop ahead of the system overnight and speed to the inner coastal regions on Tuesday morning, with Haida Gwaii to receive winds up to 90 kilometres per hour as the system moves through the region.
The bulk of the rain associated with the system is set to arrive after midnight and continue on into Tuesday morning, with another system following the path of the first into Wednesday.
For areas inland of Prince Rupert the system will first bring Wind and Rain and then the prospect of Snow overnight and into Tuesday
You can find more information on the progress of the system from the Environment Canada website.
The Storm could have an impact on the schedule for BC Ferries to find out the latest advisories from the Ferry Service see their Service Notices page.
For those that travel the Highways of the Northwest updated Road Conditions can be found here.
