While the coastal regions of the North Coast prepare for a wet weekend, further inland they will be breaking out the snow shovels and preparing for some winter driving conditions.
Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the inland areas with 15 to 25 centimetres of snow anticipated before the system tapers off this evening.
In addition to the snowfall, freezing rain is also expected which will make driving conditions challenging for those heading inland from the coast.
Poor travel conditions are expected for Highway 37 and the Nisga'a highway in particular.
For Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii the weather system will be a rain and wind event, with rain arriving this afternoon along with south east winds of 30 to 50 km/h, increasing to westerlies at 40 to 60 into the evening.
Approximately 25 mm of rain is anticipated over the course of the next 24 hours.
You can find updated weather forecasts from the Environment Canada website, while the latest Road conditions can be reviewed through the Drive BC website and twitter feed.
