The Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce has offered up some thoughts towards the ongoing dispute in the territory of the Wet'suwet'en that have seen transportation impacted across Northern BC.
In their comments, the Prince Rupert Chamber notes of their own strong relationships with both the elected and hereditary leaders in the region, while also highlighting the economic importance of a consistent flow of cargo through the region.
The statement released today and authored by Chamber President Michelle Boomars-MacNeill, also urges all parties to work together toward a peaceful and mutually respectful conclusion to the current disruption.
Yesterday we outlined the impact that a rail blockade in the Hazelton area is having on Port of Prince Rupert operations, with some terminal operations now shut down as a result of the suspension of rail service to the North Coast on Saturday.
