Local paper faces short bench with more departures from Fraser Street publication

There have been more staffing changes to be found
at Prince Rupert's Northern View

When it comes to breaking news items from the local newspaper these days, the go to page of late has been that of the photo array of staffers found on page A4.

That's the spot, where readers can keep track of the comings, or as has been the case in recent weeks, the goings of those that put the Northern View to the printing press each week.

As we noted earlier this month, the outflow of staffers began with journalist Jenna Cocullo's photo taken out of the staff roster in early February.

With last Thursday's home delivery, two more portraits were missing from the display. With journalist Alex Kurial and long time Prince Rupert ad representative Ed Evans now removed from the rolling archive of the staff  members at the Fraser Street publication.

The last bit of work for Mr. Kurial  at the paper seemingly his weekend of reviews of the 61st Annual All Native Basketball Tournament, along with some notes on the weekend of Rampage playoff hockey.

The apparent departure of Mr. Evans however may make for an even larger impact on the local paper than that of the rotation of more recently arrived journalists.

His long standing efforts in local advertising have made him a familiar face in many Prince Rupert businesses and what seems to be his departure will no doubt make for quite a bit of conversation about the recent comings and goings at the paper around the coffee machine at many stores and offices in the city.

With the latest shift of personnel, the weekly paper at the moment is left with one reporter, KJ Millar, who only joined the staff in January. 

That makes for what would seem to be a pretty quick learning curve for the reporter as to what should be the local news themes and to keep the current stories of note up to date in the months ahead.

So far, the Black Press careers page does not include any postings for additional staff for the Prince Rupert operation.
