Councillor Randhawa calls for Full Service at gas stations during COVID-19 Situation

During the tail end of Monday's Prince Rupert City Council session, Councillor Gurvinder Randhawa introduced a suggestion related to the City's Declaration of a Local State of Emergency, with the Council member putting his focus on local gas stations.

Mr. Randhawa, noting the city's concern over preventing the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, suggested that the City's Emergency Operations Centre instruct all four of the city's gas stations to introduce full serve measures, meaning motorists would not get out of their cars to pump their gas.

At the moment, the only station that offers an option of Full Serve is the Grassy Bay Petro Canada station in the Industrial Park.

In addition to the Gas station suggestion, Mr. Randhawa also asked that the City publish the phone number for the Emergency Operations Centre, Mayor Lee Brain in reply said that they would post the number to the Internet.

The Short discussion can be reviewed from the City's Video Archive starting at the 43 minute mark.

So far the City has issued two State of Local Emergency orders, put in place on Tuesday evening.
