Norovirus outbreak has Northern Health watching the region

An outbreak of gastrointestinal illness in a number of locations in Norther B. C. has Northern health officials keeping a watchful eye on health care facilities across the region.

Three outbreaks of the virus have been reported one at a school in Houston and two others at elderly care facilities in Smithers and Haida Gwaii.

Symptoms of the norovirus include sudden nausea, chills, abdominal cramps. vomiting and / or diarrhea.
