Recreation Centre to host Babysitting Course in the New Year

The Prince Rupert Recreation Department is bringing back the popular Babysitting Course for the new year, a program which has helped to train many of the community's youngsters in the past providing for some of the skills to rest easy the conscience of parent's around the region.

The next course is set for Youth between the ages of 11 and 15 and takes place Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM at the Civic Centre.

The Red Cross course provided a level of training to provide confidence for those looking to take on the task of babysitting in 2020.

Recreation Centre to offer popular Babysitters course this fall

It's one of the more popular of programs offered by the City's Recreation Program each year and starting this Friday, the Babysitters Course program will get underway.

The program which runs from 9 to 5 is for adolescents of 11 years of age and older who would like to learn some of the key skills required for babysitting.

Among some of the skills to be examined

Feed a baby or change a diaper
Prepare a simple meal
Play games with children of all ages
Prevent injuries and keep children safe
Handle an emergency if one happens

There are four opportunities to take the course this fall, the dates for the day long program are as follows:

Friday September 19
Friday October 3
Friday October 24
Monday November 10
