North Pacific Cannery Historical Site to receive $75,000 grant
Port Edward's North Pacific Cannery Historical Site was one of a number of communities to receive some good news over the weekend, with the local attraction set to receive a 75,000 dollar grant to be put towards renovation of the Cannery Working Dock.
That project is to be one of the key elements to the Cannery site and has been a work in progress over the last few years. North Pacific has been actively seeking grant money for a number of restoration projects to save buildings on the site that are at a risk of damage.
While Port Edward was the only North Coast community to gain grant funding, they were not the only Northwest Community to find success, with a number of communities to the east and across Hecate Strait on Haida Gwaii also receiving good news.

Masset Dixon Entrance Maritime Museum Society -- $16,000
Building improvements
Port Clements Historical Society -- $44,000
History of Logging Outdoor Exhibit and Trail
Skidegate Haida Gwaii Museum -- $50,000
Bill Reid Legacy Gallery
Smithers Central Park Building Society -- $22,000
Cultural Cover (Roof Shingle replacement)
District of Stewart -- $88,000
Old Firehall Museum Restoration
City of Terrace -- $10,000
Airport Heritage Access and Interpretive Signage Project
Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine -- $25,000
The Meanskinisht Churchyard and Cemetery Heritage Interpretive Structure
Terrace and District Museum Society -- $60,000
Reshoring Heritage Buildings at Heritage Park Museum
Terrace Regional Historical Society -- $3,300
History Book, Terrace Family Biographies, 1940 to 1970
