More personnel shuffling for SD52

As the end of the school year gets closer, planning for 2020-21 will see yet one more new face in a new positions when students return in September.

With recent staffing position changes at Charles Hays Secondary announced by Interim Superintendent Sandy Jones earlier this month, a new Vice Principal will take office in August.

Last week, Acting Superintendent Jones announced the appointment of James Zlatanov to the position of Vice-Principal at CHSS, the posting takes effect on August 1st.

“James has served the district well in a variety of roles,” said Acting Superintendent Sandy Jones. “I look forward to seeing the contribution he will make at our largest school.”

Mr. Zlatanov moves to Charles Hays from his current post of  Vice-Principal at École Roosevelt Park Community School.

 Ms. Jones outlined his experience with the School District in the announcement from June 16th.

SD52 names new Vice Principal for Charles Hays Secondary

The recent departure of Kevin and Laila Leach from SD52 for southern British Columbia has required some personnel shifts in the District, with outgoing Superintendent Ken Minette this week filling the Vice Principal's role which Mr. Leach held at Charles Hays Secondary.

Minette, who will be relocating out of the District himself at the end of the month announced the personnel addition for the City's east side high school on Thursday, with Ms. Aja Lihou named to the Vice Principal post at the school.

The new vice-principal began her career with the School District as a teacher on call in 2014, moving into full time teaching duties at Charles Hays in 2015 specializing in English and General Business, as well as to teach the Aboriginal Entrepreneurship course at the school.

In the announcement from Thursday, Mr. Minette paid tribute to the lengthy career of Mr. Leach and welcomed the new VP to her duties with the District.

“The district is grateful to Kevin for his service in the district, including taking on the added responsibility for Port Edward Community School,” ... “We congratulate Aja on her new appointment. She is joining the CHSS leadership team at an exciting time as they continue to implement the new BC Curriculum and a new school timetable"

With the start of school for 2018-19 heading towards the post Labour Day period, SD52, like other School Districts in the province is still looking to fill vacancies in a range of areas for the upcoming school year.

The Make a Future website features a number of Prince Rupert positions currently available, including French Immersion, Speech Pathologist and Behaviour Interventionist positions.

The Superintendent of Schools will turn over his duties in August to Irene LaPierre who is relocating to Prince Rupert from the Salmon Arm region.
