Senior Staffing shuffle in motion at School District 52

Sandy Jones has been back on the job for less than a week and already there have been some significant personnel moves in the upper tiers of SD52.

The Acting Superintendent who resumed her work at the District Office on Monday following the departure of former Superintendent Irene LaPierre, has announced a number of changes effective immediately.

The first move is the promotion of Andrew Samoil to the position of Assistant Superintendent which took effect on June 9th.

Mr. Samoil who has been with the District for over 7 years has held a number of positions, most recently as Director of Instruction - Educational Innovation.

The shuffle of administrators includes the move to the Board office for Charles Hays Secondary School principal Sandy Pond who will take up the position of Director of Instruction with the Board.

Taking her place as Principal at Charles Hays will be Carla Rourke, she has served as the CHSS Vice Principal since 2013.

Ms. Jones hailed the talents of all three through the announcement of Wednesday.

"Andrew has moved from an initial responsibility for the district’s information technology system, to a role as an educational leader in the district,” said Acting Superintendent Sandy Jones. “Sandy has a wealth of experience in both elementary and secondary settings, and will provide excellent support to the educational leaders in our schools. Carla has demonstrated her leadership skills in the district’s largest school, and is ready for the challenge ahead of her. I am so pleased to see all of these exceptional leaders step up to help the district move forward to meet the needs of each of our students."

The move of Mr. Samoil to the Assistant Superintendent position makes for an interesting decision and possibly one that could see him rise further in the ranks to the top post, that of course depending on how long Ms, Jone's temporary assignment with the District may last.

So far School District officials have not outlined in any detail the path forward to fill that post on a permanent basis.
