For the Gitga'at First Nation at Hartley Bay 433,100 dollars in funding was approved for the Txalgiu Destination Trail, a project which will include amenities and water access for paddling transportation.
To the east of Prince Rupert, the City of Terrace has received 217,635 dollars for the Munroe Street Active Transportation Enhancement project, an initiative that will better connect the community and provide for easier access to local schools.
The funding announced on Wednesday was part of close to 9 million dollars in funding from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, with the money destined for 23 infrastructure and 21 active transportation network plans province wide.
It's not known if Prince Rupert, Port Edward, Regional District or area First Nations had submitted applications for this period of funding for 2020-21.
