While the 2020-21 hockey season is still off in the distance for the North Coast and few updates have been provided by the CIHL as to the road ahead for Senior Men's hockey in 2020-21, the business of preparation must move forward.
With what is surely a hopeful eye towards a puck drop this fall, officials with the Prince Rupert Rampage are making their final plans to host the team's Annual General Meeting, which this year will be a virtual meeting owing to these times of COVID.
The event which will be Zoom session is set for Wednesday, June 24th at 7PM, if you wish to take in the meeting contact the Rampage by way of a message on their Facebook page to reserve your space in the virtual audience.
The CIHL has not had much to say of late as to what the upcoming season may look like as the province continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, so next weeks meeting may provide some guidance on what kind of planning the Rampage and the league are engaged in towards a resumption of hockey.
The arrival of the pandemic in March of this year served to bring an end to the BC Senior Hockey League season without a Coy Cup champion
That as the annual tournament which this year had been planned for Quesnel in late March was cancelled, as a result of the government's ongoing measures towards response to COVID-19.
The Quensel Kangaroos who claimed the league championship with a sweep over Terrace for 2019-20 were scheduled were to be the hosts, with teams from Terrace, Kelowna and Dawson Creek rounding out the four finalists for the BC Senior Hockey championship.
Team officials with The Kangaroos like their counterparts with all of the CIHL teams are still awaiting further guidance as to the path ahead for the league, noting that so far there are not a lot of answers to the many questions that they have.
