Survey launches to learn more about how Prince Rupert residents feel towards travel this summer

The latest initiative from Tourism Prince Rupert, the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce and the City's Economic Development Office will be a survey to gauge the pulse of the community on themes of summer travel.

Launched under the umbrella of the Prince Rupert Small Business Recovery Task Force, the survey collect information about Prince Rupert residents’ travel intentions and level of comfort for the 2020 summer season.

The Survey takes place with likelihood that Phase 3 of the provincial government’s Restart Plan could be announced later this month.

Ceilidh Marlow, Executive Director, Tourism Prince Rupert outlines the importance that the survey will have towards understanding the impact that the pandemic has had locally for the tourism and business sector.

The tourism sector has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourism Prince Rupert is committed to supporting our local tourism economy through our recovery marketing strategy for this summer. However, now more than ever, it’s important for us to understand how local residents feel about visitors to our community. This survey will be an incredibly useful tool as we continue to plan for tourism recovery in a way that is both supportive and sensitive to residents’ concerns.”

Towards generating some participation in the Resident Travel Sentiment Survey, the task force is offering up gift cards to local Prince Rupert businesses to a value of $300 dollars for one lucky winner to be drawn from all of those who participate.
