Relay at Home Day in Prince Rupert

In more normal times, the field of Prince Rupert Middle School would be hosting the annual gathering of participants and supporters for the Relay for Life, but much like many, many other community events, that too has had to be reimagined this year owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For 2020, Today's Relay for life will be the Relay at home, with participants inn Prince Rupert joining others in many other communities to keep the Relay tradition moving forward.

One of the most impressive moments of the annual event is the Luminary Lap , which honours those who are fighting cancer, have survived it and to remembers and pays tribute to those who have passed on.

The parking lot behind the Lester Centre for the Arts will be the staging
area for tonight's luminary lap of the Relay for Life, with participants
and supporters travelling around the city

This year, the lap will continue, going mobile and expanding beyond the track at PRMS.

Starting at 7PM from the parking lot of the Lester Centre of the Arts the participants of the Luminary Lap and their supporters will travel in a cavalcade through the city, offering a chance for residents to share in the day and remember those of the past.

The details for this years Relay can be found from the Prince Rupert Relay at Home Facebook page in addition to a range of entries leading up to today's virtual event, you can review some of the inspiring stories of local Rupertites who have taken on Cancer.
