Westview Terminal sets new record for largest load of wood pellets

The end of May made for a new record for those working at Prince Rupert's Westview Terminal with Pinnacle Renewable Resources setting a new benchmark for the largest load of wood pellets to ever ship out of a Canadian Port.

The shipment came on May 29th as the MV Siboney M departed Westview bound for the United Kingdom, carrying close to 64,000 tonnes of wood pellets for the UK marketplace.

That shipment bests the Westview totals of June 2015 which was the Terminal's previous mark to beat.

Pinnacle Pellet officials paid tribute to the Westview Team as part of the announcement of the significant achievement for the Prince Rupert operations.

“This is great progress for Pinnacle to be knocking on the door of the world record once again,” he said. “It's also good for the carbon intensity of pellets coming off the west coast, where increasing shipment sizes can significantly improve this metric.  A special shout-out goes to Eugene, Steve, Brenna and the team at Westview for making this happen, despite the physical distancing and the other unique challenges brought on by COVID-19." -- Vaughan Bassett, Pinnacle’s senior vice-president of sales and logistics
