With the Prince Rupert Airport set to resume scheduled flights later this month, YPR is looking to reward local travellers by hosting a draw every day in July for those arriving at the Digby Island airport.
Those travellers arriving at YPR who have their names drawn will receive gift certificates for local businesses and services.
The City of Prince Rupert has also made note of a change in the quest for further efficiency at the Prince Rupert Airport Terminal, announcing that as of the restart of the airport checked baggage will now be claimed directly from the YPR shuttle Depot on Sixth Avenue in the city.
Something that should cut down on the transit from the airport to downtown.
Scheduled air service to the city was suspended in late March owing to the COVID-19 pandemic response, with Terrace designated as the Regional Airport that would remain open.
Flights to Smithers and Sandspit were also suspended at that time.
The first flight back into Prince Rupert is set for June 22nd, and as we noted last week the City and Airport Authority have adopted a number of COVID protocols for the resumption of that service.
