Air Canada targets June 22 for resumption of service to Prince Rupert

It would appear that air travellers in and out of Prince Rupert will have to wait until the third week of June before they make the crossing to the Digby Island Airport to catch a flight.

According to the latest update on the Air Canada website, pending any changes the Jazz Service to and from Prince Rupert is set for a return on Thursday, June 22nd.

Air Canada has listed one flight per day between the two communities, in an email update from Airport Manager Rick Leach, the departure from Prince Rupert will be at 3:45 PM daily.

Service to Prince Rupert, Smithers and Haida Gwaii was suspended back on March 26th.

Since that time scheduled service to the Northwest has continued through the Terrace airport, with Air Canada offering four flights a week.

The resumption of the Prince Rupert service is one of a number communities  across the nation that the Air Canada website indicates will see a re-launch on June 22nd.

However, the latest update does not provide any indication that Smithers or Haida Gwaii will see any return of their flights in the month of June.
