Prince Rupert's Kaien Road Recycling Depot returns to Regular Operations

The Kaien Road Recycling Centre has returned to normal
operating hours and operations

The days of booking an appointment to take care of your accumulated recycling appear to have come to an end, as the North Coast Regional District resumes regular operations and hours.

The end of the appointments requirement came by way of an information release on Thursday, with Regional District noting that they have put in place measures for the protection of staff and to ensure that proper physical distancing is achieved at the Kaien Road facility.

Thursday's advisory also provided some background on what the staff of the Recycling Centre are looking for from those who drop in to drop off their accumulated recycling materials.

Staff would like to request that when individuals drop of recycling that the pre-sort materials and adhere to any other procedures as directed at the depot. At the NCRD, we are engaged in planning activities to be proactive in minimizing the public health and safety risk in our communities, as well as managing and mitigating any potential COVID-19 impacts to our facilities, operations and delivery of essential services.

Should you require more information about the reopening give the NCRD facility a call at 250-624-2455 Extension 5

The return to regular hours comes following a discussion on recycling issues at Prince Rupert City Council on Monday, with Councillor Adey who had adjusted well it seems to the appointment policy asking a number of questions related to the impact on the landfill site from the the measures that ended on Thursday.
