City's Recreation Plans Ramp Up with a pair of Job Opportunities

The City of Prince Rupert still hasn't outlined when they plan to reopen the Civic Centre, Aquatic Centre and return to offering recreation programs, but a pair of job opportunities recently posted to the City's Job Listings page would suggest that some planning is underway for the summer ahead.

The two postings reflect the prospect of a Summer Camp program for 2020, with a Camp Coordinator and Camp Leader position posted this week, both positions have a deadline for applications for Wednesday, June 10th at 5PM.

You can review the duties and responsibilities for the positions from the links below:

Summer Camp Coordinator

The City describes the position as seasonal, for the period of June August. Reporting directly to the Recreation Coordinator, the Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for providing direct leadership, supervision, and instruction to the Camp Leaders and participants. The Camp Coordinator plans, promotes, and implements age-appropriate activities (arts and crafts, games, day trips, etc.) to provide a safe, fun, and educational environment for all children participating in camp.

Camp Leader

This position is also a seasonal one, for the period of July – August. Reporting directly to the Recreation Coordinator, the Summer Camp Leader will help plan, lead, and monitor age-appropriate group activities (arts and crafts, games, day trips, etc.) to provide a safe, fun and educational environment for children participating in camp.

Applications can be forwarded to Heidi De Wildt, Recreation Coordinator

The City had last posted its plans for the Recreation department back in February, a process interrupted it seems by the uncertainty that came with the COVID pandemic.
