A coat of paint for the city's roads, as line marking continues in Prince Rupert

Road marking is underway along George Hills Way

The City may have some plans for Road Paving a bit later in the year, but May is Road Painting  tie in Prince Rupert and around the community over the last few days, work crews from the Prince George based contractor Yellowhead Pavement Marking have been taking to the roadways around town.

Crosswalks and stop line have made for much of the focus since the crews arrived in town last week, with the Cow Bay area and eastern side of the city the current focus for this week, with the Yellowhead workers out early in the day to take advantage of what has been a remarkable string of summer like weather in the last five days.

Hopefully, the City has kept the contractor in the loop as to which stretches of Prince Rupert streets will soon be up for some remedial work or paving, lest they lay down some paint that may soon be torn up or paved over.

The Yellowhead team is working against the clock however, with the weather expected to change significantly by the time this May Long Victoria Day weekend arrives.

City council confirmed that the paving projects for 2020 remain on track, making note of the plans as part of their approval of the 2020 budget last month.

As we noted on May 1st, the City has put their 2020 paving program out for bids, with today the final day for contractors to submit their proposal. As part of the call for bids, the City noted the areas of town that will get attention this summer.
