District of Port Edward eases its way back towards Regular municipal business

The District of Port Edward Municipal Hall re-opened for business today, though coming out of their COVID-19 response, the District will be taking a slow and cautious approach to the return of municipal functions.

The District opened its doors to business today with a plan to have public access for the community on Monday's and Tuesday's with one customer at a time to be admitted to the offices, with the use of hand sanitizer required prior to entry. 

The District has set up designated space along the walking path of 2 metres social distance should there be someone being attended to at the office.

The notice for residents was posted to the District's Facebook page on Friday evening, with the District making note of the options for Tax payments of a mail slot on the outer door for cheques and Home Owner Grant forms, or the e-transfer process that they have set up at the District offices.

The Port Edward return to business is slightly different than that of Prince Rupert, which while open Five Days a week is asking that residents make an appointment to meet with civic departments.

As they launched their program of a return to civic engagement, the City of Prince Rupert noted that owing to heavy phone demand, residents may have to leave a message for a return call later.
