And the Winners were...

The Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce held their Gala Awards Ceremony on Saturday night, as the nominees for the Business Excellence Awards gathered with Chamber members to celebrate achievement for 2012.

Through January and into February, Rupertites were invited to vote for nominees for a number of Awards, highlighting service and achievement in the community over the last year.

The opportunity for local residents to vote for their favourite nominee on line proved to be a popular thing, with the Chamber reporting a six fold increase in the numbers of ballots cast in the voting process.

The winners of that voting process were announced at the Crest on Saturday night, as part of the celebration of business and service in the community.

Chamber of Commerce set to announce Award nominees

The Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce is about to make like the organizers of the Golden Globes, Junos, Grammy's and Oscars, ready to announce on Thursday, this years nominees for their Business Excellence Awards.

Preliminary nominations for the wide range of award categories took place through the early part of January, with the deadline for applications having passed on January 17th at midnight. Now with the reviews completed, the final three nominees in each category will be announced to the public on January 24th.

Once the nominees are revealed at a reception planned for Thursday, the voting for the second round of the competition will take place, starting at midnight on Thursday the 24th.

The final award winners will be announced at the Chamber's Business Excellence Awards Ceremony, the date of which has yet to be listed on their events calendar. 

The Awards ceremony is always a well attended event designed to recognize achievement in the community.

Last years event took place on February 25th and provided recognition to a number of local entrepreneurs and services for their contribution to the community in 2011.
