Liberals announce candidate by acclamation for Skeena-Bulkley Valley

With the election now into its second week, the Liberal Party of Canada can at least say that they have a candidate to run in the constituency of Skeena-Bulkley Valley, but when it comes to sharing any details on their choice, there's not a lot to take note of there.

The acclamation of Lakhwinder Jhaj  one which was officially announced on August 20 (and first noted by the Smithers area radio station the Moose) shares the news of the latest candidate in the Skeena-Bulkley Valley race relayed through the Liberal website by campaign chair Navdeep Bains.

The announcement offers no actual background on the candidate, or even a photo so that local residents that may be planning to vote Liberal will be able to recognize their candidate.

The party choosing for now not to provide any actual details on the candidacy, prospect of public events or talking points as to what the candidate may have to offer to the residents of the Northwest, other than an apparent commitment towards the themes of TEAM TRUDEAU.

The announcement itself was devoid of any real context for the region, other than to relay the Liberal party campaign focus.

It doesn't even note if the candidate is a resident of the Northwest, or has been dropped in to carry the flag for the Liberals in the riding.

It may also be news to the Local Skeena-Bulkley Valley Liberal association which has yet to celebrate the announcement on their own website, or their social media option, a location which hasn't been updated since July of 2019.

All of which makes for a bizarre entry into an important election and a strategy that more than likely won't deliver a victory for the Liberals in Skeena-Bulkley Valley come September 20th.

More notes on the 2020 campaign can be explored here.
