City makes call for RFP for 'urgent' watermain work for Park Avenue

Some urgent waterman repair near the BC Ferry Terminal
on Park Avenue is the focus for a City of Prince Rupert
RFP with BC Bid

Some of the city's aging infrastructure on Park Avenue is seemingly in worse condition than other areas of the community, with the City of Prince Rupert posting a Request for Proposals for what is considered urgent work on the west side.

The work is considered “urgent” and both valves are key piece in the city’s water infrastructure. The watermain has failed and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Currently the main is patched and is active, but still leaking. Proponent must supply schedule and availability to start and end works

The Call for Bids was posted to the BC Bid website on Friday and outlines the scope of the situation towards replacement of 250mm of waterman along the end of Park.

As part of the process, a mandatory meeting is to be held this morning at 10AM

The location of the work to be done is at the entrance to the BC Ferries Fairview Terminal.

Owing to the urgency attached to the situation, the timeline for the project is a rather tight one with the Closing date for bids this coming Friday and work to get underway by Monday the 23rd.
