Housing themes highlight August Council's notes for Port Edward residents

Some land clearing work will get underway as part of the 
District of Port Edward's plans to develop a new 
subdivision in the community at Alder Avenue

With some accelerated work about to take place in the Alder Avenue area, the District of Port Edward made its housing ambitions the focus for much of their August newsletter for community residents.

In their update from earlier this month, Mayor Bjorndal and his Council took note of the ongoing work towards development of the new residential subdivision, as well some of the individual housing starts that have taken place in recent months in the community.

The original Expression of interest for the proposed housing for Alder Avenue was outlined in January of this year. 

The District last updated the progress of that project in July.

The August newsletter also highlights the successful work towards completion of the train whistle cessation program, which saw the crossings of the District go silent in recent weeks following some expanded infrastructure work.

The monthly update also notes of concerns over the issue of dogs running at large in the District as well as to announce that the Community Hall is now available for rental.

Some Wildlife awareness guidelines are also included in the mid summer update, as well as a look at the history of the community through a reprint of a past article from Gladys Blyth.
