Chamber of Commerce looks for new Executive Director

The Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce
is looking to fill a vacancy, with the search now on for
an Executive Director for the Business advocacy organization

The Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce, the local organization that advocates for business in Prince Rupert is on the hunt for a new Executive Director, with a deadline of this Sunday, August 15th for interested applicants to put forward their names.

The position is a full time one, with the successful applicant to take on duties as a representative of the Chamber with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong alliances with organizations, elected officials and community leaders.

An ability to build relationships is key to the post, as well as to promote a synergy between the Chamber and the local business community, industrial organizations, municipal, provincial, federal and area Indigenous governments.

Among some of the Required skills and knowledge for the position, the Chamber's Human Resources Committee is looking for the following:

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Education or Experience related to Indigenous Reconciliation and/or Business Relationship

Board Governance training

An understanding of local, federal and provincial government policies, legislation and procedures

Strong business acumen, problem solving, decision making skills and interpersonal communications and presentation

A positive attitude, innovative and highly motivated

Ability to prioritize work in a fast paced environment

The note on reconciliation themes follows up on an initiative announced in June of this year, where the Chamber outlines four policy themes to move forward on their ambitions.

Those with an interest in the post can dig a bit into some of the past work through the Chamber's Social Media page and website.

Though, once in place, the need to rebuild the Chamber's online profile in the community most likely will be a priority for the new Executive Director.

Since the middle of June, the relay of information from the Chamber has all but come to a standstill, with little in the way of updates on the work and initiatives of the Chamber of Commerce.
