As the students of Lax Kw'alaams Coast Tsimshian Academy prepare for their return to classes, their principal Skye Mitchell has had the sad duty of sharing word of the sudden passing of the popular Music Teacher and Band leader, Mr. Pat Dudoward.
The news was delivered earlier this month to the community through the Coast Tsimshian Academy Facebook page, with Mr. Mitchell making note of the passion for Music and the school that Mr. Dudoward had, as well as the impact he had on the school population and community.
The success of the music program at Coast Tsimshian Academy is well known in Prince Rupert and beyond, with an appearance from the students in town one that was always much anticipated and well received by residents of the city.
As noted in the tribute to his work, Principal Mitchell advises that the program will carry on forward with details for students to follow as the school year moves forward.
120 or so Lax Kw'alaams Students return to school on September 3rd and 4th for a soft start to the school year with orientation periods planned through those two days, the first day of class for students will be on September 8th.
