Blog Watching: Week ending August 8, 2020

Port development, COVID-19 concerns and items of note from Prince Rupert City Council made for the themes for our list of the five most read items of the last seven days.

A call for comments related to a temporary use plan by the Prince Rupert Port Authority for a parcel of land on Park Avenue was by far the most read item of the week.

Another port project, that of a Logistics platform development for Ridley Island was also a popular item on the week, with a pair of items related to concerns over COVID on the Central Coast and Haida Gwaii also gaining a large audience.

One other City Hall note made the list of five for the week, that a look at the progress of the city's derelict and abandoned vehicle collection program.

However, when it came to the most read item of the last week, it was a call for comment related to a plan for land on Park Avenue to be reviewed at the August 24th Council session that captured the most interest.

City of Prince Rupert seeks public comment/feedback on PRPA plans for temporary use of land on Park Avenue  --   The city is accepting public comment on those who believe they are impacted by plans  by the Prince Rupert Port Authority to use land on Park Avenue for up to two years during expansion of the Fairview Container Terminal. This week also saw the City release the details of the next phase of their Official Community Plan process, which also found a strong audience.   (posted  August  7, 2020)

Prince Rupert Port Authority launches community engagement on environmental effects of Ridley Island Logistics platform plans -- One of the large scale port related developments for Ridley Island continues on with its community engagement process, with the port seeking comments related to their plans for a Logistics platform at the southern end of the island.    (posted August 62020 )

Demolition Day looms for abandoned vehicles collected by City of Prince Rupert --   The city's ongoing efforts to clean up derelict and abandoned vehicles continued this past week.   (posted August  4, 2020)
