Demolition Day looms for abandoned vehicles collected by City of Prince Rupert

The City of Prince Rupert is making plans to take once again care of a number of abandoned vehicles that it has collected in recent months, with the City outlining the fate of the vehicles it has in storage through a recent public notice.

The notice of pending demolition was provided to the back pages of the weekly paper last week, noting that eighteen vehicles will be demolished unless their owners contact the City of Prince Rupert by August 7th.

Registered owners must be able to prove ownership and pay all outstanding charges, including storage by that date.

For whatever reason, the notice for the public has not been posted to the city's website, or to the range of social media portals and apps that they now have in place.

The clean up of abandoned and derelict vehicles makes one of a number of concerns from some of the city's councillors when it comes towards a need to clean up the city, the vehicle program one which seems to be having more success than the quest to improve the look of buildings in the downtown area.
