Marine Warnings in effect as North Coast braces for extensive rainfall event

Last night we outlined the details to a Rainfall advisory from Environment Canada which is calling for in excess of 100 mm of precipitation for the Prince Rupert area over the next 24 hours or so.

Earlier this morning, a Marine Weather Advisory was issued in anticipation of that weather event, with a Gale Warning now in effect for waters of the North Coast a parts of Haida Gwaii.

Winds will be from the south from 10 to 20 knots increasing to South 20 to 30 near midnight and to south 35 overnight.

A brief lull arrives Saturday morning, with the winds then increasing to 40 knots by tomorrow night.

Seas will vary from 1 to 2 metres during the storm

You can get updates on the Marine situation from the Environment Canada website.
