Job opportunities advertisement indicates work on Wolverine Terminal facility may be coming to a close

There's no official word yet from the owners, but an interesting job opportunity listing this week does seem to suggest that the construction portion of the Wolverine Terminal project on the Prince Rupert waterfront is nearing an end, with planning for operations now in motion.

The Terminal project once completed will be providing fuelling services for the ocean going carriers that regularly call on the port facilities that are located along the waterfront.

So far there have been no new updates from the Wolverine Terminal website as to the progress for the work.  

However we did touch base with the Prince Rupert Port Authority which offered up a thumbnail sketch of where the project is at to this point.

Katherine Voigt, the Manager of Corporate Communications observed that in general terms the land based construction at the Wolverine site is complete, while the barge fabrication element of the project continues on schedule in Vietnam.  Once ready for transit, those barges are anticipated to be in Prince Rupert by mid this year.

The Wolverine Terminal is located north of the BC Ferry Terminal near to where the CN Aquatrain used to operate. Once in operation, rail cars will transport the fuel to the facility where the barges will then take the product to the ocean vessels to be refuelled.
