The City of Prince Rupert is finding much the same challenges as many other communities when it comes to filling staff positions, with those seeking jobs having a choice of career opportunities, something which seems to be making for a lengthy recruitment period for Prince Rupert.
A position in the planning department which was previously posted in January, has seen an extension put in place until near the end of the month or until the post is filled.
The January posting followed up a similar call for a Junior Planner from December.
The position came open with the departure of Daniel Rajasooriar, who left the City's employ for similar work in Maple Ridge in Greater Vancouver where he took up duties in January of this year.
The challenge for the City in filling some of the staff positions comes from the volume of posts currently available through the Civic Info careers page, which offers up a list of planning opportunities across British Columbia.
The City's job posting is somewhat unique in that it has the position union exempt, while the vast majority of the other job postings have jobs with union designation, mostly that of CUPE.
