The signs have been everywhere yesterday and today, the traffic just a little bit heavier, the lineups in the stores a wee bit longer, the restaurants filling up earlier than normal and folks embracing or shaking hands along Third and Second Avenue.
All making for the start of the annual reunion of the Nations now underway and back at its familiar date, with the participants and their supporters arriving in town for the 63rd edition of the All Native Tournament.
The buzz around town one of the Big event, the anticipation towards the opening games of Saturday and the Opening Ceremony of Sunday night making for the energy that will take the city through the next week and into Championship Saturday of the 18th.
In addition to a Welcome back to those taking part in the tournament, the City of Prince Rupert provided for its annual reminder for those who will heading to the Civic Centre over the next seven days.
With a note on the regular programming of he Recreation Centre and a reminder on parking themes, as well as a change for the Recreation Centre bus stop for the week, which will be related to McBride Street in front of Mission Health.
The action tips off at 11 AM today when Massett and Kincolith take to the court in Intermediate action in the Arena.
Update: The Games involving Haida Gwaii teams were moved to Sunday which mean for a shift to the schedule, with Senior Games filing in some of the spots for the afternoon.
That will set the pace for near constant acton both in the Russell Gamble Gymnasium and the Civic Centre Arena through to next Saturday.
Sunday night will bring the Opening Ceremonies at 8 PM in the Russell Gamble Gymnasium, the Ceremonies are hosted by the Laxgalts'ap Cultural Dancers.
Later in the week the ANBT Committee will enshrine the Class of 2023 into the ANBT Hall of Fame.
In addition to the Energetic play on the court, the Civic Centre will be the focal point for the cultural elements of the week as well as the Exhibitors, Crafters and Variety of food vendors on site.
