City Council Preview, Monday, April 11, 2016
The evening is set to start with the presentation from Representatives of AltaGas who will appear in Council this evening, set to provide some background to their plans to develop an export terminal at Ridley Island.
Tonight would also appear to be report night for Council members, with five to review on the evening.
The first from the City's Fire Chief which provides a full review of the City's fire department methods and procedures, as well as a number of amendments to the current Bylaw that is in place.
Proposed Road Closures will also be reviewed tonight, with Council to review two closure requests one for Chamberlain Avenue, the other for Park Avenue and Five Corners.
Financial items also make the list for tonight's session, with Council to review the 2016 Five Year Financial Plan and the 2016 Property Tax Bylaw.
The information related to the 2016 Property Tax Bylaw, notes that there will be no tax increase for 2016, which would appear to indicate that the City's plan of a few weeks ago, where the City had outlined some thoughts towards putting aside money for asset renewal purposes has been deferred for this year.
Council members will bring the evening to an end with an opportunity to raise any concerns or questions that they may have, while there will also be another update from the Mayor on the progress of the Housing Committee, as well as some comments from Councillor Mirau on a pair of his initiatives at Council.
The full review of the evening ahead can be found from the Agenda for the Regular Council Session for Monday, April 11, 2016.
Council will also host a session at 5 PM closed to the public, to address items related to:
the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality; as well as negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.
