Let's Go Raptors! City Recreation Department to host Raptors Viewing party tonight

Some basketball history could be made tonight, as the Toronto Raptors look to put away the Golden State Warriors in the NBA finals and claim the first NBA championship from outside of the USA

And with basketball excitement in Canada at an all time high, the City of Prince Rupert is looking to help cheer on the Raptors by hosting a Raptors Viewing Party at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre Arena.

Tonight marks Game Five of the Best of Seven series, and with a 3-1 lead along with the Raptors showing some dominating form so far, it could be the last game in the NBA Finals.

The Viewing party will get underway at 6 PM when the game goes up on the Big Screen in the Civic Centre.

A location which will be Prince Rupert's very own Jurassic Park, to join the lengthy list of public viewings found from coast to coast to coast.

The Doors open to the public at 5:30.

Popcorn will be available for purchase for those in attendance, with the proceeds going to support KidSport Prince Rupert.

Tonight's community event was highlighted In a Monday morning tweet from Hans Seidemann, the City's Manager of Community Development, with an additional note on tonight's plan paying tribute to the work of CityWest to help pull the project together.

As Mr. Seidemann notes that it could very well be the most  western Jurassic Park viewing party to be held in Canada, at least until we hear further from the equally crazed basketball hotbed of Haida Gwaii.

Now to get in the spirit of tonight's event ... on three ... LET'S GO RAPTORS!!
