Ridley Terminals, Port of Prince Rupert prepare for Annual Report season next week

2019 has already brought a fair bit of positive news from both Ridley Terminals and the Port of Prince Rupert, so this years Annual Report season may be a bit anti-climatic, though perhaps the two CEO's may still have some more tidbits of progress to share with the public next week.

The region's two large industrial giants are scheduled to host back to back Public Meetings in mid June, with the Port of Prince Rupert set to host their Annual Public Meeting at the Crest Hotel on Monday June 17th.

The Annual gathering will take place from 5 to 7 PM in the BC room and the general public is invited to attend to hear more on the port's performance in 2018 and to learn more about some of their recent development and what the Port has planned for the future.

North Coast residents received a glimpse of some of that future last month, when the Port released some background on their master plan towards expansion of the Fairview Container Terminal site, with the long range vision calling for a 6-7 million TEU capacity facility sometime down the road.

A more modest goal of expansion is already underway to increase capacity to 1.8 million by 2022.

Port President and CEO Shaun Stevenson among other port officials will be on  hand for the Annual Public Meeting to expand on the current port operations and the longer range goals that may be ahead.

The Port will also have their financial statements available for review at the meeting, or those with an interest in the numbers can also access them at the Port's Cow Bay Atlin Terminal offices.

On Tuesday, June 18th, the roll out of information is turned over to Ridley Terminals, with the North Coast Convention Centre's Orca Room the venue for the 3PM meeting.

Ridley officials will be on hand to provide an update on their 2018 activities, a year which saw the plans for diversification of the coal handling facility become realized, that with the opening of the AltaGas LPG facility known as the Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal.

In addition to the debut of the propane terminal on site, the core business for RTI that of coal is also having a fairly good year, with shipment levels continuing to be strong through 2019.

The RTI Annual meeting will also feature a short question and answer period following their presentation. For those unable to attend, Ridley Terminals staff are accepting written questions through the RTI website at info@rti.ca prior to the June 18th meeting.
