City to honour two residents as part of Canada Day 2019

This years Canada Day celebrations at Mariner's Park will once again
feature the City of Prince Rupert Civic Recognition Awards


Prince Rupert City Council has two for the list of honours this year at the annual Canada Day celebrations at Mariner's Park.

Tonight at their final council meeting of the month, the City's Council members will announce that Phuong Nguyen and Ian Lihou will be recognized by the community as part of the national birthday celebration.

At a Closed session of Council earlier this month Council decided on this years recipients, with Phuong Nguyen to be bestowed the Civic Appreciation Award while Ian Lihou the Civic Merit Award.

The Civic Recognition Program moved the awards to the Canada Day weekend a number of years ago, making the civic awards part of the large community celebration.

Prince Rupert's Canada Day Party takes place July 1st from Noon to 4, the Civic Recognition Awards are scheduled to start at 1:30PM.
