Port of Prince Rupert makes one more change to the membership of the Board of Directors

The Prince Rupert Port Authority continues to see some change to the makeup of their Board of Directors, with the Federal Government bringing a new name to the roster of its representatives.

In a Thursday afternoon announcement, Prince Rupert Port Authority President and CEO Shaun Stevenson paid tribute to the work of Board member Bruce Hallsor who is leaving his post after six years of service.

"We are grateful for Bruce’s contributions to PRPA’s Board of Directors, as he helped guide the organization through a remarkable period of growth and diversification”

Taking over his position as one of the Federal appointees to the Board is Ms. Rita Andreone a nationally recognized business lawyer who has been practicing commercial corporate law in British Columbia for over thirty years.

Among her areas of expertise are risk management and corporate governance, she joins the Prince Rupert Port Board with a number of other Board appointments in her resume.

Ms. Andreone's name was put forward by Marc Garneau, the Minister of Transport for the Government of Canada.

In his statement of welcome,  Mr Stevenson paid note to her skills in corporate governance as a key asset for the Port to be able to work with.

"On behalf of our staff, I congratulate and welcome Rita. Her experience in corporate governance will be an invaluable addition to our governance team as the port continues to realize its vision of strategic growth and diversification.”

The Port President and CEO also announced Thursday that Ken Clayton has been re-appointed to another three year term which went into effect on June 2nd, Mr. Clayton has served on the Board of Directors since 2014 and is the Chair of its Major Projects committee.

As we noted over the weekend, last Friday the Port of Prince Rupert announced a new appointment as the Provincial representative, with Claire Trevena the provincial minister of Transportation and Infrastructure introducing Mr. Peter Lantin as their representative to the Board of Directors.

Mr. Lantin joins the PRPA Board with a number of years of experience in government with the Council of the Haida Nation.
